Russia Discusses Transport Infrastructure Development for Malawi & Burkina Faso
Russian and African leaders, along with senior officials, convened in St. Petersburg during the Second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum earlier this week. The distinguished attendees delved into areas of mutual interest and explored potential collaborations across various sectors.
The Russia Ministry of Transport, during the Russia-Africa Summit, engaged in discussions with representatives from Malawi and Burkina Faso regarding the enhancement of cooperative efforts in infrastructure development, specifically focusing on ports, airports, and railways. This information was relayed by the ministry’s press service to Tradeque.
The Second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum, which took place on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg, saw the participation of Russia’s Deputy Transportation Ministers, Dmitry Zverev and Igor Chalik.
The ministry stated, “Following the agenda set forth by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the plenary session of the Russia-Africa Forum, critical aspects of Russia’s collaboration with African nations in the transport sector were addressed during Dmitry Zverev’s meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of Malawi, as well as during Igor Chalik’s meeting with the Minister of Transport, Urban Mobility, and Road Safety of Burkina Faso.” These discussions encompassed themes such as “the advancement of transport and logistics corridors, the promotion of cooperation in infrastructure development (including ports, airports, and railways), and the fostering of synergy in the realm of transport education,” according to the government agency.
